What is skin cycling and how do I do it?

What is skin cycling?

I bet you have seen this trend all over TikTok, Dr. Whitney Bowe created this trend. Skin cycling is a four-night routine where you put more of the stronger/harsher products on your face for the first 2 days and then rest and recover on the next two days, and repeat it.

Does it actually work?

There have been no studies to show that it works, although the creator dr Whitney Bowe is a certified dermatologist. There has been other dermatologist supporting this trend all over social media as well.

Should you try it?

It’s great for all skin types, especially sensitive ones. I think everybody should give this a try. If you keep putting these very strong products on your face every night, you could dry your skin out. It’s good to give your skin a break from all of that.

How do I start?

Do your regular morning skincare regimen (don’t forget sunscreen) then at night is the cycle.

The first day you want to exfoliate, get rid of all that dead skin. It can help with acne and make your face look brighter as well. Preferably use a chemical exfoliate.

On the second day, you want to use retinol, which is vitamin A. It helps to increase collagen production, which helps with wrinkles and fine lines. Amazing for anti-aging! Be careful choosing retinol because some are much stronger than others, find a good one that will work with your skin. Also, use a pea-sized amount.

The third and fourth days are for recovery, do not use any harsh products like AHA’S or BHA’s acids on your face. Your skin needs moisture and hydration!

Then you repeat the steps all over again!

How long will it take to work?

Dr. Whitney Bowe says that you will start noticing improvements in your skin after 2 cycles! Many other people who were influenced to try this trend, say they’ve seen results after one week to a month. So if you don’t see results right away, be patient because soon you will.

Now will you try it?
